What happens if my transcript does not reflect compliance, I do not report an out-of-state exemption, or I fail to pay my late fee by the grace period credit reporting deadline from my NAA reporting period?

Supreme Court Rule(s) cited in this FAQ: Rule 796.

If your grace period credit reporting deadline for your NAA reporting period passes without your online transcript reflecting your timely compliance or exemption and without you paying the late fee, your name will be removed from the master roll of attorneys for MCLE non-compliance. Removal means the attorney may not practice law in Illinois (until reinstated), but is not a disciplinary sanction. Rule 796.

Attorneys who achieve compliance after their grace period credit completion deadline or who report a valid out-of-state exemption or fail to pay their $250 late fee after the grace period credit reporting deadline will be removed from the master roll of attorneys the day after the grace period credit reporting deadline.

Removal means the attorney may not practice law using their Illinois law license until reinstated, but it is not a disciplinary sanction. Rule 796(e). These attorneys will pay the reinstatement fee of $500.00 when they achieve compliance or report a valid out-of-state exemption.
