How does an attorney request reinstatement after removal from the master roll of attorneys for MCLE non-compliance?
After an attorney is removed from the master roll for MCLE non-compliance, the process of reinstating to the master roll involves the attorney seeking reinstatement, the Board, and the ARDC.
First, the attorney needs to address each removal by: (1) earning the
required credits for the reporting period or be exempt from that reporting
period’s requirements for up to the last three reporting periods for which the
attorney is removed, (2) reporting that compliance or exemption to the MCLE
Board for up to the last three reporting periods, and (3) paying a
reinstatement fee for up to the last three reporting periods for which the attorney was removed.
Second, after the attorney completes steps 1, 2, and 3 above, the MCLE
Board will verify that completion to the ARDC. Then in 3-5 business days, the
ARDC will return the attorney’s name to the master roll if there is no other
reason that the attorney is removed from the master roll (e.g., removed for
failure to register with the ARDC or removed for discipline reasons).
If you completed steps 1, 2, and 3 above, more than five business days
ago, please contact the ARDC at 312-565-2600 and ask for the Registration
Department. Only the ARDC can change your license status after a removal.
