Can I earn credit through self-study?
Supreme Court Rule(s) cited in this FAQ: Rule 795
The Illinois MCLE Rules do not use the term “self-study.” Because its meaning varies, the MCLE Board does not use it to describe CLE options.
An attorney may earn CLE credit from Illinois accredited recorded courses, including online on-demand, DVDs, CDs, podcasts, and MP3s.
Reading legal materials such as advance sheets, newspapers, law reviews, books, cases, statutes, and newsletters does not qualify for CLE credit. Rule 795(d)(11).
