Are attorneys on active duty in the military exempt from their MCLE requirements?

Attorneys on active duty in the Armed Forces of the United States for at least one day of their reporting period are fully exempt from complying with the MCLE requirement for that reporting period. The exemption continues until that attorney returns to the active practice of law. (Rule 791(a)(5), (b))
If an attorney’s registration status with the ARDC under Rule 756(a)(2) reflects they are on active duty for at least one day of a reporting period, the MCLE Board will enter an exemption for the attorney from that reporting period and the attorney does not have to report the exemption themselves.
If, however, the attorney’s registration status with the ARDC does not reflect the attorney’s active duty service during the reporting period, then the attorney will need to report their exemption to the MCLE Board.
