How do I achieve compliance and pay my late fee for the 2022-2024 reporting period by the November 30, 2024 grace period credit reporting deadline?

For the 2022-2024 reporting period, your final grace period credit completion deadline is 11:59 p.m. CST on October 31, 2024. Then, November 30, 2024 is the deadline for (1) your transcript to reflect your compliance by October 31, 2024; and (2) you to pay your late fee this reporting period.

  • If you timely requested a grace period extension because you had "not yet complied" with your Illinois MCLE requirements by the June 30, 2024 credit completion deadline and paid the $100.00 late fee with that report, no additional fee is due if your transcript reflects your compliance with the October 31, 2024 grace period credit completion deadline or you report your out-of-state exemption no later than the November 30, 2024 grace period credit reporting deadline.
  • If your transcript did not reflect that you achieved compliance on or before the June 30, 2024 credit completion deadline or you did not request and pay for a grace period extension by the July 31, 2024 credit reporting deadline, then the late fee you owe is $250.00.
  • If your transcript does not reflect your compliance with the October 31, 2024 grace period credit completion deadline or you do not have a report of an exemption on file by November 30, 2024, or you have not paid your late fee by November 30, 2024, you will be referred to the ARDC for removal from the Master Roll of Attorneys. The ARDC will be removing attorneys from the Master Roll for 2022-2024 MCLE non-compliance on December 1, 2024.
Here is how you check the credits on your transcript to confirm compliance then pay your late fee by 11:59 p.m. CST on November 30, 2024.

Reviewing your online transcript, adding credits, and paying the late fee
  1. Click here to go to our website’s attorney page. On the right side of that page, log in with your ARDC number and password.
    • Click here to retrieve your ARDC number from the ARDC website
    • Reset password: click Forgot/Create Password link directly below the password box
    • When you are logged in, you will see your name, ARDC number, compliance status, and details about your next deadlines.

  2. Click the “My MCLE” button that appears on that page after logging in.

  3. On the next page, details about your credits earned and your deadlines for the 2022-2024 reporting period will display.

  4. To add credits from either out-of-state courses accredited by another state or non-traditional activities to your transcript, click "+Add Credits". You will need your attendance certificate for your out-of-state courses and your records of credits earned for non-traditional activities, such as researching and writing a published legal scholarly work or judging law student simulations.

  5. If you earned carryover credits in the 2020-2022 reporting period and want to apply those carryover credits to the 2022-2024 reporting period, you will need to enter those carryover credits online. Carryover credits are credits you earned in the 2020-2022 reporting period that exceeded the required credits for the 2020-2022 reporting period.

Carryover credit is capped at 10 hours from two-year reporting periods. Of those 10 carryover hours, you may carry over up to six credits as professional responsibility, including mental health/substance abuse and diversity/inclusion credit. Please consult your records from the 2020-2022 reporting period to determine the number and type of your carryover credits.

To add carryover credit to your 2022-2024 transcript, click "Add Carryover Credit".

On the next page, enter the total number of credits you earned during the 2020-2022 reporting period that exceeded the required credits to a max of 10 hours.

Next, if any of your carryover credits qualify as professional responsibility ("PR") credit, enter the number of PR credits you earned in each of the PR categories that are included in your total carryover. Then click "Submit" to return to your "My MCLE" page.

  6. Once your transcript reflects compliance, the system will then prompt you for payment of the late fee. Check the box to the left of the fee description and select "Pay selected fees by check" or "Pay selected fees by credit card".

    • If you select "Pay selected fees by credit card," you will enter your payment information on the next page and hit "Submit". Payment by credit card is virtually instantaneous.

Your payment confirmation is presented on the next page. A confirmation is automatically sent to your email address on file, but you can enter a different address to send another copy there.

    • If you select "Pay selected fees by check," to pay by mailing or delivering a check: (1) please print the PDF invoice generated when you choose "Pay selected fees by check" and include that invoice with your check payment; and (2) allow at least 10 business days for U.S. Mail - it may take longer. Payment is not applied to your account until the MCLE Board receives the check.

Please consider a credit card payment or overnight delivery if you want the payment received and processed sooner.
