Attorneys may apply online to claim credit for attending certain out-of-state courses

An attorney may claim Illinois MCLE credit by attending a CLE course if the course is either:

  1. accredited as an Individual Approved Course; or
  2. offered by an Accredited CLE Provider who issues Illinois MCLE credit for the course.

If a course is not in either of these two categories, please contact the provider to determine if the provider has applied, or plans to apply, to the Illinois MCLE Board for accreditation.

Also, some providers ask that their courses be omitted from the lists of individually approved courses. So, if you do not find a course listed, ask the provider if it made that request and request that they confirm that fact in writing to you.

1. Individual Approved Courses

Some providers chose to accredit one course at a time. Click the links below to view lists of individually approved courses. The courses are listed by year and, within each year, by provider name. Many attorneys prefer that the course lists use this organization so that all courses accredited by a particular course provider can be viewed together.

2. Accredited CLE Providers

An Accredited CLE Provider's CLE courses and activities are presumptively approved by the MCLE Board for the provider's selected accreditation period and approved delivery methods.

Some providers have allowed the Board to post links to their web sites so that attorneys may contact the provider directly for information about their courses.  Other providers, as indicated on the list, offer courses in-house or by special invitation only, therefore, links to their web sites are not provided.

TERMINATED Accredited CLE Providers:
Ulrich, Nash & Gump, terminated effective 9/30/09. This entity is no longer approved by the MCLE Board to conduct CLE courses or issue certificates of attendance to Illinois attorneys for Illinois CLE credit.

If you have already attended a course or are interested in attending a course and the course is not among the individually approved courses and the provider is not on the list of Accredited CLE Providers, please contact the provider directly to determine if the provider has applied, or plans to apply, to the Illinois MCLE Board for accreditation. Some providers have requested that their courses be omitted from the lists of individual approved courses.

Green Policy
The MCLE Board's office is paperless. Applications to accredit courses and providers are accepted via e-mail only. Each application form includes instructions and the e-mail address to use. Paper applications are not reviewed. Paper applications and related hard-copy documents are shredded after 30 days unless the applicant requests and pays for their return. Due to electronic storage constraints, the Board's e-mail server has a limit of 5 megabytes per e-mail. Because the Board’s server automatically rejects all e-mails that exceed 5 megabytes, the Board does not receive those e-mails. If your e-mail exceeds 5 megabytes, please zip the attachments or divide the attachments into more than one e-mail. The Board’s server sends an auto-response when the Board receives an e-mail. If you have questions about submitting an application, please contact the office before submitting it.
